The THE Awards are widely recognised as the Oscars of the higher education sector.

Each year we attract hundreds of entries that exemplify the talent, dedication and innovation of individuals and teams across all aspects of university life, showing us countless reasons why our institutions continue to prosper.

And in 2021, for the first time in 17 years, the THE Awards look beyond the UK to include excellence in Ireland's higher education sector too.

After our esteemed judging panel has worked its way through a treasure trove of excellence, our awards evening – where traditionally well over a thousand people gather to celebrate together in central London – gives us the perfect opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary breadth and depth of our higher education sectors.

And following the fabulous, if untypical, virtual THE Awards ceremony in 2020 when over 1800 people witnessed the winners announcement live, we want to ensure that those who are unable to attend in person can participate in this year's celebration too.

The THE Awards are free to enter, and open to anyone involved in higher education across the UK and Ireland.

The 2021 shortlist will be published on 9 September, and the winners will be revealed at what we very much hope will be an in-person ceremony in London on 25 November 2021.
